Hello friends, it’s MaryLisa here with Spirit Collective and
I wanted to talk to you about Beauty today.
I have some tips on how you can create more beauty within yourself
so you feel as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside.
I have always struggled with the girl in the mirror,
Whether I criticized my body or my looks, I was always trying to find
Something that could be improved so I could be more beautiful.
The problem with that is beauty is an energy, just as love, or pain, or joy or hate,
Which radiates from the inside to the outside.
When I realized this, it truly changed the way I felt about myself and
The world around me.
We all know that people can be beautiful or aesthetically pleasing
From the outside, but can do or say ugly things.
We have been ugly people before and we have met ugly people before
And it had little to do with how we looked.
Before I would find myself obsessed with outer beauty, always
Trying to become more beautiful it ruled my thoughts and my actions
Consuming my life at times.
Obsessive thinking and compulsive behaviors are a real pain in the ass.
But they serve a purpose. And their purpose is to give us something to
Focus on, something to try and control when we feel like our world is OUT
Of control. I always knew this in the back of my head, having talked to
Clients about disordering thinking and behaving which was often a response to
Them reaching for something to grab onto when they felt like they were drowning
In conflict or emotion.
But now I can see just how true that is when I find myself criticizing my face in
The mirror after a big life change like moving, or when I try to control my food
Intake after starting to date again.
It’s all about control, baby.
And often we feel so out of control.
We reach for control when we lack confidence in our abilities and worth.
Everything comes down to feeling worthy in the end.
And guess what? Feeling worthy isn’t changed by the look in the mirror
or what size pants you wear. Sure those things can add beauty to our lives
and increase confidence but often confidence is not the thing we are reaching
for. We are in fact reaching toward WORTH.
So the key seems to be tying in beauty to our worth. In a positive way.
From the inside-out-way. We feel beautiful when we feel worthy, or recognize
Our worth. I would say we cannot feel beautiful when we feel unworthy
Or worthless. That is why harping on the person in the mirror cannot
Make you feel more beautiful in the long-term and sustainable way.
So how can we increase our own beauty? Well I encourage you to find a way
That speaks to you personally, you can read my blog post on some ways HERE,
But I will share with you how I can make myself feel beautiful and stunningly worthy
First I want to give you a definition of beauty that I came up with that changed
The way I think about beauty: “Beauty means having the quality to inspire passion,
Admiration, and mystery within the observer”
With that definition it becomes easier to find beauty everywhere, especially
In the uncommon.
So the first lesson in feeling beautiful is to discover the beauty around you.
Take a walk outside and discover what is beautiful and list them off every time
Your senses roam. Discover the beauty in how someone walks, in how they smile,
In how bright the yellow flower grows against the dirt. Let your self discover the mystery
And passion and awe in the beauty around you.
Then it will be easier to do the next exercise in beauty…
The next exercise in beauty is something I have recently been working with
And how found it to work amazingly well.
Having an active imagination goes hand in hand with being and intuitive
Energy healer. They work well and build increasingly off the skills of the other.
So I use these tools to help me understand my beauty.
And before you say “well I am neither imaginative or and energy healer,
so I cannot do what you can do” I will stop you and say “yes you can”
You are made of energy that can be measured and manipulated, and
You can learn how to do just that (watch my video on energy healing here)
So just follow along with an open mind.
I practice this when I am out walking, as well, where I can see people’s faces.
I look to them and discover something beautiful about them
And I send this beauty and awareness to them from my heart to theirs
I just walk around like oprah giving beauty to them, giving love.
In this manner I am forcing myself to notice the
Beauty around me, I am sending it to others, and I am resting in my own power
To create beauty within myself. Which makes me feel worthy and powerful.
And that is what beauty is, right? It’s a power, an inspiration, a feeling, and a mystery.
As I create such beauty and send it out into the world, more beautiful
Things find their way into my awareness, and my world. And as I become
Surrounded by beauty I notice how I feel about myself changes, I can
See how beautiful I am from the inside which makes me admire the outside
More.
When I see the power and mystery within myself and practice using it more, the
more beautiful I feel.
So to bring it all together, feeling ugly sucks. But ugliness originates from
Within. If you can consistently notice what is ugly, is because you are
At war with yourself. So if you catch yourself criticizing your looks
in the mirror, take a step Back and rediscover your self-worth by
realizing your innate power to create.
Before you can feel beautiful and be beautiful you must redefine beauty
You must be able to see beauty as the mysterious and adventurous thing
That it is, you must be able to realize that beauty is about inspiration and admiration.
Beauty does not come to sit on your face,
it comes when you are vulnerable Enough to feel.
And Courageous enough to seek love in dark corners.
Beauty comes when radiate these qualities from within yourself.
So if you catch yourself criticizing your looks in the mirror,
take a step Back and rediscover your self-worth by creating beauty
By fostering the power and the awe and the Divine within you.
You are beautiful,
Go show the world.
perfect timing for me, wonderful way to view beauty! thank you
